Privacy policy
Draft — to be reviewed. This text is a working draft and is not yet in force.

This policy explains what personal data Designer Lab collects, why, and what you can do about it. The controller is Elevate Studio, Ramallah, Palestine. Contact: hello@designerlab.app.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your name if you give it, and a securely hashed password (handled by our sign-in provider; we never see your password).
- Your projects: the designs you save to the cloud.
- Subscription details: your plan, its status and renewal date, and Paddle’s customer and subscription references. Paddle collects your payment details; we never see or store your card number.
- Technical data: basic server logs (such as IP address, browser and time of request) kept for security and to fix faults.
- Free-trial check: when you make an account, a random id for your browser, a one-way fingerprint of it (a hash of settings such as screen size, time zone and language) and a one-way hash of your network (not your IP address). We use these only to give one free trial per device.
- Error reports: when something goes wrong in the website or the app, the error message, where in our code it happened, the page’s address (without anything after a ?) and the app version. Emails, ids and anything that looks like a key are taken out on our server before the report is stored. Your designs are never included.
- Messages: what you send us by email or through the feedback form, including error reports if you choose to send them.
We set no advertising cookies. The app uses cookies to keep you signed in, and your browser’s storage to keep your work and settings. Only if you choose Accept in our analytics notice, we use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages and the app are used (clicks, scrolling and session recordings with typed text hidden). Nothing is recorded if you decline, and you can change your choice any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of the page.
The live link
When you use the 3ds Max live link, your design goes from your browser to Designer Lab Link in 3ds Max on the same computer (127.0.0.1). Each change carries a short-lived ticket from our server that says which account it belongs to; the design itself is not sent to us for this.
Suppliers (pilot)
Some kitchen and furniture companies take part in a pilot with us. We share a design with a supplier only when you choose to share it, and we give suppliers no personal data about you (such as your name or email) unless you ask us to. Suppliers are not our processors and do not see your account.
Why we use it
- To give you your account and your projects (to perform our contract with you).
- To take payment and manage your subscription, through Paddle (contract, and our legal duties for tax and accounting).
- To keep Designer Lab secure and working, to prevent misuse of the free trial and copying of the software, and to answer your messages (our legitimate interests). Files you export carry a reference to your account.
- To email you about your account, your subscription and important changes. We send no marketing email unless you ask for it.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase: sign-in, database and storage for accounts and projects.
- Vercel: hosting of the website and the app.
- Paddle: our reseller and merchant of record, for checkout, payment, invoices, tax and subscription management. Paddle is responsible for the payment data it collects under its own privacy notice.
- Resend: sends the sign-in and account emails.
- Sentry (stored in the EU): error reports, so we can find and fix faults.
- Microsoft Clarity: usage analytics (heatmaps and session recordings with typing hidden), only after you accept.
Some of these providers store data outside your country, including in the United States and the EU. Where the law requires it, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and projects while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and projects within 30 days, except what we must keep by law (for example, records of payments, which Paddle and we keep for the period tax law requires).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw any consent you gave. Write to hello@designerlab.app; we answer within one month. If you are in the UK or the EU you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Projects are kept in our database provider’s storage, where only your account can open them. Our service keys are kept out of our code.
Children
Designer Lab is a professional tool and is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change, and email you about important changes.
